This month, as promised, I tore myself away from work and took a tuk-tuk down to the edge of Lake Atitlan in Panajachel ostensibly to walk along the "beach" and take pictures. I knew it would be nothing like a real "playa"—one can't help but think of Mexico whenever the word playa is mentioned. However, I was anticipating a different experience than the one I got. The most interesting part was watching the boat traffic. Lanchas were all over the water crossing the choppy lake to Santa Cruz and San Pedro. It was quite busy. The boardwalk and main drag looked like a seedier version of the upper end of Calle Santander. There were plenty of places to grab lunch or buy a souvenir but not much of anything else. "Beach" is a misnomer. There is no beach that I could see. Worth the experience but not somewhere I will be hanging out. I would like to report that at least part of my time is spent exploring this end of Lake Atitlan, the villages that surround it and all that this beautiful area has to offer but this is not the case yet.
Etsy's New Look
I am strategizing, planning and creating my way through springtime for Paper Prezzies in a big way. Etsy rolled out a new look on April 5th for our shops, and I'm running with it. It's an opportunity to Spring clean my wares, revamp my policies and introduce some new items and indeed a new direction for my upcoming work. I'm very excited about it. After my VIP customers get a sneak peak later this month, I'll launch a completely new line of work to the public on Etsy and Amazon.com. Be sure not to miss this one!

I've also created a new banner for my shop that gives potential customers more of a visual clue right off the bat as to what Paper Prezzies is all about, especially people who are on the fly with an android. I hope the new banner creates an upbeat mood of casual elegance and charm which is what I'm after in my brand message. Do you think I've accomplished that? Jump over to Etsy and see its actual size.
Wā Kāleka Lives!
Try and repeat that fast! Retweet me @sluddygirl, it can't hurt. My new Etsy shop was born mid-March to a royal fanfare. No, really, Wakaleka had a (very) soft opening due to the fact that I've been busy with Paper Prezzies and a girl can only be stretched so far.
At the moment I have nineteen digital greeting cards for sale. All of them are sweet, saucy, and racy adult cards which you download and print yourself. 300dpi 8x11" printouts. Card stock is best.
I anticipated that these cards would be a whole lot of fun to do (I'm a Graphic Designer - so getting behind a computer and doing what I do is home) and I can already see that there are countless directions this shop could take, so I will spend some quality time with my fledgling enterprise in the near future and create a big splash in the pool this summer with a Grand Opening. Women's art and downloadable cards to sizzle your summertime urges to communicate!
Work In Progress
That's it for this month folks. I'm very busy with new stuff and enjoying the beautiful weather. 'Til next time.
